Women will be flying high at the spectacular Yealands Classic Fighters Airshow this year, recognising a hundred years of women’s contributions to aviation.
You’ll see over 100 aircraft at the family-friendly show from 19 to 21 April, in Marlborough, at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre’s biennial fundraiser.
The event is Marlborough’s largest event and draws crowds from all over the world.
A highlight will be husband and wife Frank Porter and Liz Needham going head-to-head in a Spitfire and New Zealand’s only Focke-Wulf Fw190 fighter.
This year you can also see (and hear) the fastest jet fighter to debut at Omaka, the Royal Australian Air Force’s F/A-18A/B Classic Hornet.
The multi-role fighter has a maximum speed of 2,200km/h and is guaranteed to make some noise.
Tickets are available now for the event, which also includes classic cars, award-winning Marlborough wine & food, music, fireworks, and entertainment.
