Margin Deposit: A deposit paid by an investor to a broker, as a guarantee for fulfilling a contract.


Market manipulation: A central element of trade-based market manipulation is that trades have, or are likely to have, the effect of misleading the market. The market is entitled to assume that any trading activity is for a legitimate purpose. Trades without a legitimate purpose are likely to be illegal.



Micro Cap: A listed company with a market capitalisation of US$50 million–US$300 million.


Minsky Moment: A sudden collapse of asset values after an extended period of growth. The term is named after economist Hyman Minsky.


MSCI ACWI Low Carbon Leaders Index: Aims to achieve 50 per cent reduction in the carbon footprint of the MSCI parent index, by excluding companies with high carbon emissions.
