Renew yourself this winter by heading outdoors into the natural environment. Get the blood flowing and your body moving – it will lift your mood.
New Zealand boasts plenty of beautiful bush walks. Take some time to walk them and breathe in highly oxygenated air, feel the breeze, hear the birds, and soak up the solitude. Bushwalking is a great way to escape the constant stimulus of digital, indoor living.
Eat well during winter and consume what nature provides. Real food helps you feel great.
Dr Gary Foster, an expert on health and weight loss, was recently in New Zealand on behalf of Weight Watchers. He has the following tips for curbing those winter cravings:
• Keep trigger foods out of sight. Weight Watchers describes a trigger food as one that sets off an uncontrolled course of overeating.
• Satisfy hunger with healthy food choices.
• Plan ahead for meals and snacks.
• Don’t use food as a pick-me-up. Find other ways to boost your mood.
