Over my 30 years as a doctor, I’ve seen many a manager, executive, CEO, director, and investor die unexpectedly.

It makes you wish people had spent more time investing in their health than in their wealth.

As I tour the country, I find people in both the city and the country know more about the ‘numbers’ of their companies, cows, and corporations than they do about themselves.

People just don’t realise why health numbers are important. Unless you measure wellbeing, you can’t manage it. That’s why I launched a wellbeing app called KYND at the JUNO Men’s Wealth and Wellbeing seminar in October.

Know Your Numbers

KYND is the outcome of three years’ work by a dedicated team of medical experts, and I believe it will improve and save lives. It has already picked up warning signs of depression and anxiety in the workplace for some users, so we were able to intervene early to make a difference.

KYND measures risk and gives people a wellbeing score out of 100. Wellbeing is made up of physical, mental, and social health, and this app uses your numbers for these indicators to measure your overall health. It’s called the Know Your Numbers Dashboard.

Once we have a number, doctors can provide advice on how to improve important aspects such as blood pressure, risk of diabetes, degree of anxiety, hours of sleep, financial security, friends and family, and your sense of purpose.

Companies can use the app to produce anonymous risk reports they can then use to make a real difference to their staff’s wellbeing. They can engage resources to improve productivity and change the lives of workers and their families.

Answer the multi-choice questions and you’ll get green, orange, or red traffic lights, based
on your level of risk.

Through technology, you can use apps, wearable devices, and cameras to take control of your physical, mental and social health. If you’re worried, always see your doctor.

Two quick checks

Sleep:
Many people are chronically over-tired due to Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), which triples their risk of having a workplace accident.
