If you’re looking to spend a night or two away in Wellington, then we’d highly recommend staying at the newly renovated Sofitel.
Wellington’s popular and decadent Sofitel reopened its doors in October this year, following a temporary hiatus.
Along with welcoming back their original team, Sofitel has also reopened its top grill restaurant Jardin Grill, the Green Room lounge, and Sofitel’s stylish 5-Star rooms and Suites.
The 129-room, 14-storey hotel is returning to its original status as the capital’s favourite destination for business and leisure travellers, nestled between Wellington’s iconic landmarks The Beehive and the Botanical Gardens.
The hotel’s design flawlessly blends local flair with French heritage through a botanical-inspired décor which is influenced by the gardens of Wellington and the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris.
Melissa Shaw, Sofitel Wellington’s General Manager, says the Sofitel’s return has been highly anticipated.
“The team and I are excited to reopen our doors and pick up where we left off; offering Wellington locals, Kiwi travellers and tourists alike a place to relax and enjoy themselves in a refined environment with a sophisticated ambience.
“It is important for us to resume our reputation where guests come first, also to remain as a destination buzzing with activity. We’ve got some great things planned for our welcome back, including stimulating talks, live music, and culinary events,” she says.
With a wine list curated by New Zealand’s premiere wine authority John Saker, and menu designed by culinary star Royxeenn Giam – the Jardin Grill promises to be a staple with locals and travellers alike.
True to its theme, the restaurant is beautifully set amongst floral frescoes. Its imaginative menu is based upon the grill, expanding the offerings from large to small plates.
The Green Room lounge and bar lives up to its name, with Bolton Street’s verdant greenery visible through expansive floor-to-ceiling glass walls.
Sofitel Wellington is the third Sofitel in New Zealand, joining its award-winning sister properties Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour and Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa.
Guests enjoy beautifully-appointed rooms and suites in vintage gold and bronze tones with indulgent rain showers, complimentary Wi-Fi for multiple devices, Smart TVs with Bluetooth, the So Fit gymnasium and three meeting and event venues.
Sofitel Wellington stays can be booked on accorhotels.com and sofitel.com. Room rates start at NZ$269 per room, per night.
